Criminal Charges... Are They Serious???

I just read the headline in today's newspaper and it struck me that we have idiots holding key positions in government. This post is with regard to the recent fiasco where an anti-terror expert documented his attempt to smuggle in components to make an improvised explosive device. He has brought to light that our present security measures is quite inadequate to counter evolving threats and what do our public officials do... They file criminal charges against the man when in stead they should concentrate on finding how to plug the holes the he found on the current security measures. What is the point of conducting a terror exercise when the security personnel has been notified of such an exercise. The Whole point of the drill is to check the adequacy of the current security measures under normal conditions and not on alert conditions. That man should be given a citation for doing his country a service and those security personnel covering their asses should be real men and accept that they have made mistakes and rectify them rather than finding scapegoats to take the blame for their inadequacy.

Introspection

I recently was able to get a hold of a tv series called Joan of Arcadia, which unfortunately was canceled by cbs after just two seasons, it tells a story of a girl named joan who lives in Arcadia. She is at first glance just like any other teenage girl, except for one little detail, she talks to God. The interesting part is that God takes the form of regular people that she encounters everyday. It then struck me that a lot of us seek to talk to God but we have this notion that he/she will take a supernatural form like the burning bush in moses' case. Maybe, just maybe, God is already talking to us everyday we are just too preoccupied to listen. What if he is next person you meet, talk to or even bump into? Would you be able to recognize him?

We all have been, at one point or another, have encountered trails, pain and suffering and questioned him why me? Why does he let bad thins happen to good people? These are reasonable question that we all have asked.

I have a reasonable question too, why is it that when everything is going our way we can't even seem to thank him or even remember him altogether but when things go astray he's the first one we go to or even blame?

In this world we live in we see a lot of suffering, pain, grief, injustice and a whole lot of things that we consider to some extent as evil or inhumane. Humor me for a while and ponder upon words that I have read off somewhere, would we be able to feel compassion without grief, happiness without sorrow, love without pain? Would we value love if there was no pain proportionate to how much we loved comes after it has gone? Would we value life if everything went our way all the time?

I would say that even in the constant turmoil that our world seems to be in these days. There are a lot of things we can be thankful of every single day. The grace that you have another lease in life every time you wake up in the morning. The roof that keeps you warm at night. The food that gets you through the day. The friends that keep you company. The loved one we have that makes this life worth living.

Next time you meet someone in this small world we have take a second look. God might be the next person you meet.

A Woman's Worth

In a brief conversation, a man asked a woman he was pursuing the question, "What kind of man are you looking for?" She sat quietly for a moment before looking him in the eye and asked, "Do you really want to know?"

Reluctantly, he said "Yes."

She began to expound..."As a woman in this day and age, I am in a position to ask a man what he can do for me that I can't do for myself. I pay my own bills. I take care of my household without the help of any man...or woman for that matter. I am in the position to ask, 'What can you bring to the table?'"

The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money. She quickly corrected his thought and stated, "I am not referring to money. I'm looking for something more. I need a man who is striving for perfection in every aspect of life." He sat back in his chair, folded his arms, and asked her to explain.

She said "I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection mentally because I need conversation and mental stimulation. I don't need a simple-minded man.

I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection spiritually because I don't need to be unequally yoked...believers mixed with unbelievers is a recipe for disaster.

I need a man who is striving for perfection financially because I don't need a financial burden.

I am looking for someone who is sensitive enough to understand what I go through as a woman, but strong enough to keep me grounded.

I am looking for someone who I can respect. In order to be submissive, I must respect him. I cannot be submissive to a man who isn't taking care of his business. I have no problem being submissive...he just has to be worthy. God made woman to be a helpmate for man. I can't help a man if he can't help himself."

When she finished her spiel, she looked at him. He sat there with a puzzled look on his face. He said, "You are asking a lot."

She replied, "I'm worth a lot."

International Backlash

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Groups purportedly linked to al Qaeda vowed to attack Japan, Poland and Bulgaria unless they withdrew from Iraq, the latest attempts to rattle the U.S.-led coalition after Manila pulled out its troops under pressure.

The Philippine gov't is now underfire from several countries regarding it's desicion to pull-out its' troops in order to save Angelo de la Cruz.

The main issue that foriegn gov'ts are pointing out is that our gov't has severly undermined the efforts to rebuild iraq. It has placed a very dangerous precedent that allies can be forced to quit iraq by taking its' nationals hostage and demanding that they leave iraq under the threat to kill hostages.

By pulling-out our troops, we have greatly increased the risk of terrorist attacks on allied nationals in iraq.

"This is the risk, that all of the other nationalities that are in Iraq are now put at greater risk as a result of the Filipinos telling these terrorists that if you take hostages you can get people to quit Iraq,"

There was so much fuzz about this guy for quite a time back here in the Philippines with the people are pressuring the president to save this mans' life.

After all this time most of the Filipinos have never been able to learn to look at the bigger picture and act for the benefit of the majority. We with everything issue by issue with out looking at the consequences of our actions. The majority of the people who go out the streets to protest are usually people who have nothing else to do with their life so they pester other people and open their mouths with out thinking. These jump from one issue to protest to another as is the purpose of their life is to protest.

Regarding the issue of whether to give in to the terrorists' demands to save one life. We must also take into account the international implications of our every move and we must also take into consideration the commitments that we have made and the potential backlash that may occur in whatever decision we make. We should not give in to popular demand for it is not always right.

My analysis of the situation is this: The President has made the wrong decision of pulling out our troops in Iraq just to save one life.

We have joined the international coalition to declare war on terrorism and never negotiate with such scum's of the earth. The most significant international implication of pulling out our troops is that we lose our credibility as an ally because as what has been seen when push came to shove we left our allies hanging in the wind. To emphasize on this point we look at how Spain dealt with it's dilemma where by some of its' diplomats where killed. Did they pull out their troops? I think not. We have also greatly undermined the international effort to completely eradicate terrorists by showing that our resolve is not as firm as we have declared it to be.

We have made commitments to the US that we will see this through and we went back on our word. They have been good allies and we have strained that relationship.

This will have a huge backlash in the sense that we have placed a very dangerous precedent into the open. We have opened a can of worms so to speak. We have just shown the rest of the world that we can be forced to the will of terrorists despite the fact that we have made it public that we do not deal with terrorists. We have greatly put into risk our people as targets of opportunity as we will deal with terrorists as long as we have Filipinos as hostages and threaten to behead them.

In the final tally of things we have made the wrong decision by which we might have saved one life but greatly put into risk the majority of the people. In war there are always casualties as we would say collateral damage. What is one life compared to the lives of the rest of the Filipinos. If you would to ask how about 2, 3 or even 10 lives.. I would simply say "I will sacrifice as many lives as needed to protect the interest and well-being of the rest of my citizens!"

Faith and Religion

Here in the Philippines and a better part of the world have devout herd of sheep. Do not mistake me but that is a non-sectarian observation and I do not single out any religion or religious organization for that matter. This is my own opinion so if you feel offended bugger off!

In essence a sheep is incapable of thinking for itself. It just follows the shepherd to where ever he would lead them be it to their safety or demise.

I can say this because I have met a lot of devout and very religious persons. It saddens me that a lot of these people cannot distinguish between faith and religion. They think, or should I say, are made to believe that both are one and the same. But the fact of the matter the two are very much alike as light and darkness.

Religion is actually the institution but which faith is taught and expressed. It is a structured organization with its’ own hierarchy, its’ own laws, its’ own rituals, and its’ own believers. Religion is basically an empty shell a place, if you may, where people of the same belief gather to manifest their faith.

Faith on the other hand is a sort of a hunch, a thought, or a feeling that we are merely a miniscule part in the great flow of the universe. To think therefore that we humans are intelligent, considerably civilized and greater than everything else is quite absurd. Faith is actually accepting the fact that we are not the complete master of our fate and destiny but merely given the choice to take which ever path we choose. I say that we are not the complete master simply because not everything is with in our power to control or dictate its’ course. We abide by a certain flow of things that is beyond our understanding. Faith simply put is an act by which we do whatever we can within our power and putting the rest in the hands of the great flow or greater power as some would call it.

In parting I would say that faith will endure and manifest itself ever in the absence of religion which is just a structure and an organization.

Human Rights Activists!!!

Every Democratic Country has them and their theme is quite the same all throughout which is treat criminals extra humane and grant them all the rights that honest taxpayers have and a couple more extras, in which case some wise cracking lawyer finds a loop hole on some technicalities and would eventually get these bastards to walk instead of facing the consequence of their actions.

To me the irony of it all is that there are no such activist rampaging the streets and fighting for the rights that these criminals violated against honest tax paying citizens.

Take for instance the situation here in the Philippines. Did you know that if somebody goes in to your house in the middle of the night and you shoot them you would be charged with homicide even if the person is armed and he failed to shoot first? We should be at least immune from being indicted of such a charge for he has violated the sanctity of our home with the intent of doing harm. This is just one of the many failures of our government to protect its’ citizens. The list goes on but I won’t bother to mention all of them.

In my opinion these FUCKING Human Rights Activist should be locked up with the criminals that they are trying so hard to save for a week so that they may have a reality check on their perspective.

People who violate honest citizens do not deserve such right for they have proved that they are sub-human by doing harm unto others. Do not give me some shit about the circumstance of their needs and those craps about the nature of the environment where they came from.

The government must revise and come up with better laws that would protect its’ citizens more that it would its’ criminals.
